Ryan Chapman Jazz Orchestra

Dr. Ryan Chapman is a Warburton Performing Artist, Latin Grammy Award winning lead trumpet player, composer, arranger, and educator in South Florida. He is co-leader of the Drive-By Big Band in Atlanta and South Florida. Dr. Chapman’s education includes the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Auburn University, and University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. He has recorded and performed lead trumpet with artists such as George Benson, Ed Calle, Harry James Orchestra, Terence Blanchard, Dave Liebman, Steve Miller, Joe Gransden, Frankie Valli, Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Dr. Chapman’s compositions and arrangements have been performed by Joe Gransden, Rebel Alliance Jazz Ensemble, University of Washington Studio Jazz Ensemble, Troy University Jazz Band, and others.

The Ryan Chapman Jazz Orchestra is a dynamic seventeen-piece group that has an identity all its own by drawing from the abundance of great historical repertoire and relying heavily on performing compositions of new arrangers and composers imbued with the big band tradition. The ensemble is comprised of the finest musicians in South Florida including Grammy and Latin Grammy Award winners. Members of the RCJO have recorded and toured with major artists in the entertainment industry such as Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles, Maynard Ferguson, Paul Anka, Michael Feinstein, Arturo Sandoval, Prince, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Jaco Pastorius Big Band, and many others. Under the leadership of Ryan Chapman, the combination of performance repertoire and virtuosi musicians of South Florida create a special vibe that cultivates spectacular musical performances.
